Trademark registration requirements in Slovakia:

- Design of the trademark in JPEG format in case of a graphical trademark (not required for word mark).
- The details of goods and/or services for witch the trademark will be registered or the classes in case they are known. - Details of the trademark owner (name, address, registration number,).
- Invoicing details (name, address, fiscal number, registration number). - Certified copy of priority document in case priority is to be claimed.

Trademark registration in Slovakia: The registration procedure lasts 12 months. The opposition can be filed within 3 months. The protection lasts 10 years from the filing date.

Trademark renewal in Slovakia: The trademark renewal may be done within 12 months before expiry date. For the trademark renewal we need the simply signed power of attorney and the original certificate of registration.
Trademark change in Slovakia: For the change of name or address we need the simply signed power of attorney under the new name and the document certifying the change of name issued by the Registry of Companies notarized.
Trademark assignment in Slovakia: For the trademark assignment we need the power of attorney simply signed by the assignee, the deed of assignment notarized, the original certificate of registration. There is no stamp duty, the assignment must be done with Goodwill of the business, a value – added tax of 6% will be paid on transfers of intangibles. Legal entities must pay 40% tax on mark assignment. Pending applications may be assigned; unregistered marks may not be assigned.
Trademark use in Slovakia: When a registered mark has not been continuously used for the goods or services concerned for 5 years preceding the request for cancellation, a cancellation action may be done by a third party.
