Trademark Registration in Panama: Requirements and Procedure

Trademark registration requirements in Panama:

- Power of attorney duly legalized by a Panamanian Consul or by Apostille. 
- Where applicant is a body corporate we need a certification regarding the legal existence of the corporation.
- Design of the trademark in JPEG format in case of a graphical trademark (not required for word mark).
- The detailed goods and/or services for which the trademark will be registered or the classes in case they are known.
- Details of the trademark applicant (name, address, registration number).
- Invoicing details (name, address, fiscal number, registration number).
- Information related to the previously filed trademarks, in order to benefit of the priority date, if it is the case.

Trademark registration procedure in Panama:

The registration procedure lasts 6 months from filing to registration. The protection lasts 10 years from the date of application filing date.
