Trademark Registration in Nepal: Requirements and Procedure

Trademark registration requirements in Nepal:

- Power of attorney simply signed, and counter-signed by two witnesses from the applicant Company. The power of attorney must sealed with the company stamp and has to contain the name of signing person, with his position, stated clearly. You can download our Power of Attorney here.
- Certified copy of the home or foreign registration certificate along with its authenticated translation in English by a Notary Public or other concerned authority.
- Design of the trademark in JPEG format in case of a graphical trademark (not required for word mark).
- The detaliation of goods and/or services for witch the trademark will be registered or the classes in case they are known.
- Details of the trademark owner (name, address, registration number).
- Invoicing details (name, address, fiscal number, registration number).

The trademark is not published, although a legal provision exists, it has not been implemented. There is no opposition period. Time from filing to registration is of 2 months following the submission of completed documents and payment of official fees. The registration procedure lasts 7 years from the filing date.
