In Albania there are 2 systems of trademark registration:

1. National trademark registration, in each European country.
2. International trademark (also known as WIPO trademark), may be registered with W.I.P.O. within European countries that are members of the WIPO system (Madrid Agreement and/or Madrid Protocol - W.I.P.O. system).


Trademark registration in Albania: Requirements and Procedure

Trademark registration requirements in Albania:

- Power of attorney, simply signed.
- Design of the trademark in JPEG format in case of a graphical trademark(not required for word mark).
- The detaliation of goods and/or services for witch the trademark will be registered or the classes in case they are known.
- Details of the trademark owner (name, address, registration number).
- Invoicing details (name, address, fiscal number, registration number).

Trademark registration procedure in Albania:

The time frame from filing the application until obtaining the certificate (not including incidental actions such as opposition, etc.) is 6-12 months. The national registrations in Albania are valid for ten years . The term is renewable for unlimited times, each of 10 years.
