The Trade Marks Act is the current law that covers the registration of trade marks and the protection of registered trade marks in the United Kingdom.

Trade Marks Rules 2000 (as amended).
Trade Marks Rules 2008 came into force on 1 October 2008 and these rules revoke and replace the Trade Marks Rules 2000. Rule 83 of the Trade Marks Rules 2008 gives transitional provisions in respect of those cases where legal proceedings were commenced before the introduction of the new rules.

Directive 2004/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the enforcement of intellectual property rights (also known as "(IPR) Enforcement Directive" or "IPRED") is a European Union directive in the field of intellectual property law, made under the internal market provisions of the Treaty of Rome. The directive covers the remedies that are available in the civil courts, but not criminal offenses.
