International legislation
Latvia is membership of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties as part of:
- WIPO Convention since January 21, 1993;
- Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of March 20, 1883;
- Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of April 14, 1891;
- Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989;
- Trademark Law Treaty adopted at Geneva on October 27, 1994;
- Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957;
As member of World Trade Organization (WTO), Latvia is part of Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement) (1994) since 10 February 1999.
Latvia is also member of OHIM Regulations and International Treaties.
