International legislation
Hungary is membership of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties as part of:
- WIPO Convention since April 26, 1970;
- Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of March 20, 1883;
- Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of April 14, 1891;
- Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989;
- Trademark Law Treaty adopted at Geneva on October 27, 1994;
- Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957;
- Nairobi Treaty on the Protection of the Olympic Symbol, adopted at Nairobi on September 26, 1981.
As member of World Trade Organization (WTO), Hungary is part of Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement) (1994) since 1 January 1995.
Hungary is also member of OHIM (The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market) - The Trade Marks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union.
